As Managing Director SAMI Arabia, Jim is focused on developing and implementing Asset Management Strategies as a way of increasing Profitability through better Asset Utilization for clients in the Arabian Gulf Region. He is a Graduate of Auburn University and a Registered Professional Engineer and Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional who has extensive Asset Management experience at the plant and corporate level.
Jim joined Saudi Aramco in Gas Operations in 1980 and helped to start-up Aramco Yanbu. He served as Maintenance Superintendent, Engineering Senior Supervisor and Standardization Specialist with assignments in Yanbu, Abqaiq and Dhahran, and was a key member of the original SAP Team. Jim retired from Saudi Aramco in 1995 to become engaged in management consulting.
Jim’s first Maintenance Improvement Program took place in a paper mill in Florida, USA prior to joining Saudi Aramco. From that beginning he has successfully established maintenance planning and scheduling programs for numerous companies in a variety of industries, including Saudi Aramco. He is a founding member of the Gulf Society of Maintenance Professionals which includes members from many companies and industries around the Gulf and is in the process of becoming registered in Bahrain. Jim currently serves as Secretary of the society.
Jim has written, presented and published numerous papers and articles on subjects ranging from planning the maintenance function to corporate reliability strategies. He is a qualified Vibration Analyst, Maintenance Engineer, and Reliability Engineer as well as an experienced manager. Workshop participants will benefit significantly from his knowledge and experience developed over a period of more than 30 years in the practice of Asset Management.to his vast industry and client experience Mr. Army is actively involved in outside professional maintenance and engineering societies including the Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals (SMRP) as an executive member, the Certifying Organization for SMRP (SMRPCO) as the Chairman and Lead for Work Management Question Development, the American Nuclear Society (ANS) as a member, and the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) as a member of the Process Industry group.
